North Carolina Climate Action Plan Advisory Group

List of Members of the CAPAG

The North Carolina Climate Action Plan Advisory Group (CAPAG) was formed as an advisory group to the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) administered by its Division of Air Quality (DAQ) with assistance and facilitation from the Center for Climate Strategies. North Carolina's CAPAG was charged with (1) developing an inventory and forecast of greenhouse gas emissions in North Carolina and (2) developing recommendations to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions.

The CAPAG Final Report is being presented to the Governor, the Legislature, the Legislative Commission on Global Climate Change, the Environmental Management Commission, and others as a vehicle for understanding the recommendations of the Group. The CAPAG has coordinated its actions with those of the Legislative Commission and complemented their efforts.

While the CAPAG stakeholder process is complete, some further assessments, discussions, decisions, and recommendations may also be made by the Division of Air Quality and others, depending upon legislative and other implementation developments. This includes a secondary economic and job analysis being completed by Appalachian State University.
